Our client in this stunning and unusual property requires us to undertake twice yearly seasonal planting to maintain and enhance the interesting structure of the space. Our client often wishes to make thematic changes to the feel of the garden with the use of new and different species of plants to constantly renew the look and feel. We also undertake the pruning and tidying of other architectural shrubs and trees in the garden.
Client brought us in to landscape the garden following the installation of a garden office. Client wanted a calming outlook with easy maintenance planting and greenery all year round. The use of various foliage shapes and different shades of green gave a far more architectural feel to this planting than some of our clients who enjoy flowers as well as foliage. Finished planting will look amazing all year round.
Client required a complete garden makeover, requesting his new look to have a Mediterranean feel with plants to reflect this. Plants needed to thrive in the garden’s soil type and be suitable for the UK climate. The owner had some treasured plants at their previous property, each of which had a sentimental story for the family. We successfully transplanted numerous plants to the new house and incorporated them into the new garden design.
We have many clients who have spectacular gardens that we maintain. In many cases this involves constant refreshing of plants to reflect the seasons whilst also keeping on top of the regular maintenance jobs like keeping lawns manicured, hedges trimmed, trees pruned, and borders weeded. Our discerning clients have chosen us because by using our natural remedies the garden not only looks amazing but it is healthy and chemical free too.
This fabulous garden space was a barren bramble-infested wasteland when we arrived. Brambles were manually removed (no weed-killers used) and we then set about the transformation. Clients only request was for a “maintenance-free garden, which would be attractive to bees and butterflies”. The use of stones and pebbles to create this along with interesting borders planted with numerous insect-loved flowering plants, made this one of the most satisfying projects we completed this year.
This was a classic overgrown suburban garden, which the client couldn’t face attempting to clear. Our team cleared the garden and prepared the soil ready for the client to create a vegetable garden. We are happy to offer advice on growing veggies at home and how to do this in a totally organic way, including how to deal with pests that will love to feed on your yummy home-grown veggies without having to use chemicals.
Our client needed us to do the soft landscaping for their newly refurbished garden with garden office. Requirement was for planting to be easy maintenance, evergreen foliage plants with splashes of colour throughout. The whole garden was to have a modern feel to match the new hard landscaping and this was achieved with plant choice and positioning. Like many clients who are time-precious, there was also a requirement for low maintenance planting.
We all know that life can get on-top of us and often at home it’s the garden that gets sacrificed when we need time to deal with other things we consider more important. This client was a busy family with a small garden that needed some much needed clearing up and cutting back to make it a functional space and an area the children could enjoy once again.
Client at this stunning property requested to have a planted bed to the rear of the property that would have immediate dynamic impact with bright and colourful flowering plants, ready for a family gathering. Flowering was required to continue throughout the summer months and into autumn. Plants were requested to be a mixture of perennials and annual bedding plants that would attract butterflies and bees to the garden.
Courtyard garden with planter boxes, which needed refreshing, and updating with mix of bay trees and other scented shrubs to create a calm space. In smaller gardens we try to think a lot about creating a garden that attacks all the senses, not just sight and touch. Using plants with a strong aroma works really well in these situations and ensures even the smallest of gardens become a talking point.
No job is too small for us to consider. Here the client had a small border around a new brick driveway and wanted to add a variety of evergreen plants for texture and colour. The plants selected soften the harshness of the bricks and paving and compliment the colours of the stonework used. It is definitely possible to cram a lot of variety and interest into a small border.
Client wished to freshen up the small borders to the front of this imposing property. The existing planting was quite dated and lacked any plants of height, which meant the borders made no statement at all. This issue was addressed by the addition of Camellia lollipops, surrounded by a variety of flowering perennial plants, which breathed a new lease of life into the front aspect of the house.
Client’s property was a rental property and our instruction was to create a zero-maintenance garden that would provide tenants with a usable outdoor space that would take no looking after. The use of artificial grass and stones (with weed-matt underneath to prevent any weeds growing) and no borders created the desired and functional outdoor space with absolutely nothing required by the tenants to look after it.
This garden was totally overgrown when we arrived and all our client required for us to do was to cut-back and tidy-up the garden to reveal the existing shape and structure of the space. ‘Reclaiming’ a garden such as in this case is very satisfying for us as it almost always enables us to provide our clients once again with a usable garden, which they often have not had for several years.
Some of our client’s just require us to undertake an annual tidy-up of their garden in order to to keep things under control. Whilst this is not ideal for a ‘perfect’ garden, we are totally happy to provide a ‘garden-blitz’ where our team comes in to bring a garden to a pruned and trimmed and fertilized; and as beautiful a state as is possible in just the one visit.
Again illustrating that no job is too small for us. Here our client just requires us to seasonally re-plant her planter boxes so she can enjoy vibrant and colourful plants throughout the year. We enjoy hearing what our clients like and dislike and providing them with plants that will bring them pleasure over the months to come until the next change. Seeing their enjoyment of our work is super rewarding.
Client wanted creation of new flowerbed and planting to compliment the suburban feel of this family garden. This garden is a classic example of our ‘living organism’ approach to gardening, where a garden’s needs and problems and issues are dealt with as a whole and organically. All gardens are unique living organisms, and given the right care, there is no reason why any garden cannot thrive in every way a client wishes it to.
At Anna’s Gardens we believe in recycling and making savings for our clients wherever possible. Client asked for new paving to be laid at the rear of their property in Norwood. On quoting I realised that the existing paving was beautiful York Stone, which could be carefully raised, cleaned-up, and re-used. The finish result was a stunning path which looked like new; re-cycled old materials; and cost the client less money.
Client had undertaken major alterations to the back of the house to have an ‘indoor/outdoor’ living space, which we enhanced to make the garden have a ‘garden room’ feel. Major considerations were the screening of the rear of the garden from the neighboring properties without losing any space. For this we incorporated some trellis fencing and some beautiful pleached beech trees. Use of artificial grass means the space can be used no matter what the weather.
Anna’s Gardens are often required to attend a property where the garden has ‘taken-over’ and the owner requires us just to bring the garden back to it’s basic structure so it can eventually regain it’s former glory. Often a client does not want wholesale changes to the garden, but just requires for the basic shape and landscape to be re-established with the existing plants, so that they can once more enjoy their garden.
We have been looking after this garden for six years now and over this time have refurbished and enhanced the garden with seasonal planting. Planting has also been changed over the years to deal with anomalies of nature (since these pictures were created we have replaced the box hedge, which was decimated by box caterpillar, with Ilex Crenata). Adapting to the constant changes required in this garden is part of the company’s strengths.
